LED lighting is not only constructed differently than incandescent and fluorescent lighting, but it also produces different light. Traditional lighting produces light by connecting cables to an energy source. The wires emit light when they heat up. Electronic excitation, rather than heat, produces light in LEDs. Because heat is not a major component in the creation of light, LEDs require less energy and emit less heat.
